About / Jobs

Engineering Manager

Replicate makes it easy to run AI in the cloud. We’ve got a library of thousands of models that you can run with one line of code, or you can deploy your own private models without having to worry about servers or GPUs.

We’re a team from Docker, GitHub, NVIDIA, and Scale AI. We obsess about the details of API design and making things fast. We’re led by engineers. We’re a startup and we act like it. But, we’re here to build a big company.

The models team keeps Replicate's model library full of the best generative AI models. We make popular models fast, reliable, and easy to use. We add features people ask for — and build the ones they didn't know they needed.

We're hiring an engineering manager to help lead this team of six to eight engineers. The role is about getting things done: helping a team move fast, stay organized, and deliver a world-class product for developers. You'll support the team, keep projects on track, and bring momentum where it's needed most.

The team focuses on three things:

  • Turn research into APIs. We wrap models with cog, deploy them on Replicate, and make them available to developers in minutes.

  • Speed, reliability, cost — we do what it takes to make models folks love and can reliably build their success on.

  • Build great features.

We build in public — releasing internal tools, contributing upstream, and sharing what we learn.

What we're looking for

You're someone who constantly moves the ball down the field. You bring clarity to chaos, you press forward, and challenge people to do their best work. You care about building practical tools with real impact. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do

  • Lead and support a team that ships production-ready generative models. Keep the team unblocked, focused, and moving forward.

  • Collaborate across the company to improve model performance, tooling, and usability. Be the voice of the user internally.

  • Bring structure to projects: set clear goals, follow through, and keep things aligned and on track.

  • Help shape the roadmap — from tooling to model features — working closely with leadership and other teams.

  • Support open-source work: contribute when it makes sense, and help your team share what they're building.

You should apply if…

  • You get things done.

  • You can take an idea from pitch to shipped and keep the team aligned along the way.

  • You've helped teams grow and thrive — especially in fast-paced or startup environments. You know how to mentor, manage, and scale.

  • You've worked in machine learning, data science, or a related technical field. You don't need to be an expert in model internals, but you're comfortable asking questions and digging into the details.

  • You like solving real problems. You care about craft, and you like helping people build things that matter.

  • You want to make generative AI easier for developers and creators to use.

  • You want to work on some of the most interesting problems in AI — and help ship a product that gives people access to the best models in the world.
